212 NYC Wireless is my favorite cellphone store in all of New York. Their phone selection is outstanding. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They always have the newest phones before anyone else. They had the new Nokia touchscreen phone before anyone else! I just bought my new phone, the BlackBerry 8900 with them. As always they helped set it up, made sure my emails worked, helped me learn the phone and are always available for questions and support. You might phones a few dollars cheaper elsewhere, but in my experience, customer service like this deserves to be supported, as it pays off in the long run. For the record, their phone number is 1-212-496-2900. The 0300 number listed above is their FAX line. |

| Best customer service of any provider hands down. These guys could have over sold me, but instead showed me where not to spend money for my business. Amazing...especially in these financialy hard times. |
How are they even open!

| The other day I purchased a Verizon brand cellphone from a man named Kameron whom I believe owns the place, but puts off as if he doesnt. The phone that I was talked into getting was crappy at best! After returning home I noticed that the phone even appeared to be already used!!! WTF! I researched online and also found out that I payed almost $70 more than I would have at a real Verizon store!! Needless to say I went back to return my, pre-used overpriced piece of plastic, and ofcourse now I had to deal with some new spikes haired punk who acted as if I was insane to return the phone! Suddenly there was all this crap about return policies and restocking fee's and even store credit! As if I would buy more things there! In conclusion I was ripped of and treated like a crazy person! I mean they even sell chargers for $20! The same Chinese made, dollar store ones that break 5 days later! It is amazing this company is still in business! |

Poor Customer Service

We waited for over an hour last night to try to get a resolution and walked away talked down to and patronized by a female Manager. I have been a Verizon customer for over 3 years, and customer loyalty means nothing to this manager. We had a phone that was just out of warranty that is a data enabled phone. The phone and the battery somehow shorted out. The technical girl was able to diagnose that it was the phone and the battery and it would cost us $90 for a replacement. She suggested that we talk to the manager as the only phone they had on hand was a downgrade Motorola Q to the one we had, and if we downgraded (there was no reduced cost for the downgrade) we would not be able to go back up to the model we had as a replacement later. In a nutshell, we would be paying full replacement cost for battery and phone for a permanent downgrade. We did have the opportunity to wait for a true replacement to be ordered and received which would take a couple of days. All we were looking for was an upgrade to the Motorola Qc as a courtesy as the model they were wanting to give us was really out of date. The manager flat out refused to upgrade us to a model they had and heavily patronized us. Why did she make us wait for the hour if she was just going to say no and then talk down to us? Had she said, "Listen, I'm sorry, I am not allowed to do that" it would have been fine, but she was extremely condescending. I will never go back that and we will be buying our replacement online. Had she been polite or showed a bit of empathy to our situation, or at least offered us options, I would not be so upset with the situation, but patronizing your customers is not the way to go. I will be canceling my contract at the end of the term. If staying with Verizon means being treated like this by their "Managers" I will be more than happy to take my business elsewhere. |
STAY AWAY FROM EASCO WIRELESS!
by John on October 29th, 2008 on Verizon Wireless |
| Just a word of advice about buying a phone from Easco Wireless. They are actually a 3rd party agent for Verizon. When you buy a phone from Easco, you not only sign a contract with Verizon, but you also sign a contract with Easco Wireless. Of course they don't tell you this, and put it in very fine print at the bottom of the contract. If you cancel your service with Verizon before your contract is up, not only will you have to pay an early termination fee to Verizon, but you will also have to pay a $250 early termination fee to Easco Wireless! They receive a commission from Verizon when you sign a contract. When you cancel your service before your contract is up, Easco Wireless looses their commission as well. So in order to keep their commission, they charge you another termination fee. I found this out the hard way when I was contacted by a collection agency telling me I owed Easco $500 (apparently they also charge interest on top of it). I never was told this when I bought the phone, so I am warning as many people as possible before they buy a phone here. My advice, go directly to a Verizon Wireless corporate store, you're get a better deal on the phone, and if for some reason you have to cancel, you'll only pay an early termination fee once! Also the accessories at Easco are WAY overpriced. I bought a car charger for $30 there, went home searched the UPC number on line, and find the SAME EXACT charger selling online for $6.95 free shipping. These people care nothing about their customers, only their customers money, period. |

Unreliable and poor customer servic
by ripped off customer on August 6th, 2008 on The PC Tamers |
| Don't be fooled by their initial friendliness and willingness to help. This "business" is a flat out scam. I took an expensive cell phone to them months ago and they assured me they could unlock it in two to three days. I called every few days for more than a month and when, on occasion, someone actually answered the phone they were rude and fed me some line that they were still working on it. After more than 10 phone calls they told me that it was now in their possession because I had failed to come pick it up in a timely manner. This is a warning to anyone considering using them - DON'T - YOU WILL NEVER SEE YOUR POSSESSIONS AGAIN. I can't believe businesses like this exist and I can't imagine how the people who run them can sleep at night. |
Cell Phones
Mobile phones are available to anyone for a reasonable price and are no longer restricted to the wealthy. Cell phone plans are available for many different types of needs; ranging from people who need tons of minutes, to those who talk less and text more. Many cell phone stores sell phones as well as service or repair broken ones. If your mobile phones starts to become unreliable, simply call your local store to find out if it is a easier to repair your current phone, or simply upgrade to a new phone.
Many different wireless carriers operate in most large cities. Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, and T-mobile are the largest carriers and serve most of the Unites States. Smaller carriers such as Boost, Cellular One, Alltel, Nextel, and Dobson serve much smaller markets. Service plans and pricing are generally competitive across providers. Major cell phone manufacturers are Apple, Samsung, Blackberry, Sanyo, and Motorola.
